Today few people remember Confederate General Edmund Kirby Smith. Smith, who was wounded in Prince William County in 1861 at the Battle of First Manassas, would eventually become de facto commander of all Confederate territory west of the Mississippi River, rivaling Confederate President Jefferson Davis in power. Join historian Bill Backus and learn about this important man that seems to have been forgotten by history.
