Discover Delicious Wine and More at The Winery at La Grange

The first winery of its kind to come to Prince William County, this scenic 22 acre farm vineyard is a relaxing and restful place to spend a sunny afternoon sipping wine.  Founded by a group of wine enthusiasts in 2005, the property now boasts eight acres of planted vines and a fully renovated manor house dating back to 1790, now used as their Tasting Room.  The vineyard is located just 40 miles south west of Washington D.C. in Haymarket, Virginia. It sits at an elevation of about 600 feet, right at the base of the Bull Run Mountain foothills.

The house and property are rich with history and folklore.  Many visitors share their stories of experiences with the ghosts that live here.   Most of the encounters entail the piano in the parlor playing on its own, the ghost of a young girl who inhabits one of the upstairs rooms as well as the spirit of Benoni who guided the homes restoration project in the 1800’s. Benoni E. Harrison purchased the La Grange estate in 1837 and lived here until he died in 1869.  Although some believe the Manor House to be haunted do not let that deter you from stopping by to experience

Offering an extensive Wine Club membership to their wine loving visitors, it allows loyal patrons to benefit generously.  From quarterly wine deliveries handpicked by the winemaker to receiving a 20% discount on all bottle purchases, the membership truly offers some wonderful perks.  Patrons also have the opportunity to purchase their very own barrel of wine if they wish.

If you find yourself in need of meeting or event space look no further.  Two cozy rooms are available for corporate meetings or small events. For an intimate dinner party of up to 30 guests the dry cellar on the lower level of the Manor House, Benoni’s Lounge, is a perfect fit.  Hosting a larger wedding or party for up to 150? Not to worry, the lawn is available for you and your guests too and can easily accommodate a larger group.

So the next time you find yourself looking for a fun and unique activity to do on a beautiful afternoon pack your picnic lunch and venture out to Haymarket to check out the Winery at La Grange.  You are sure to leave more relaxed then when you arrived and may even take away your own story to tell too.
